If you were at the dj Kool-Aid vs. Ron d. Core 1987-1989 Acid House set downtown last Saturday, then perhaps you’ve already filled out all your “Missed Connections” adverts on Craigslist the next day, because it was an anomalous excursion to be sure with countless beautiful people to relish.
Rarely would one ever delve into such a truly mixed crowd of formidable savvy status dilettantes and débutantes. Unlikely would one witness soo many models and music lovers in union frolicking, fine-feathered. There were veteran warehouse-era techno aficionados in proportion to fashion crazed exuberants, with a full helping of Neo-Romantic-Dystopian congregates thanks to the bewitchment of Noctournal personality Rockie Raccoon, whom was the post-modern host for the evening. Club Kids lined the walls with some of the most amplified outfits you will ever see. Leigh Bowery must have been conjured on the Ouija board, as the style crushers in the ubiquitous arena were battling hard for the limelight. -Can you say sensory overload?
Not only did it feel nostalgic with the OG vinyl being pumped out from techno shaman of yore, including LA rave legends Kool-Aid & Ron d. Core, but the vibe was really upbeat to boot. Everywhere one looked there was a luminous thunder coming out of the speakers causing contorted and upright dance movements bathed in the multi-colored lazer light. By the close of the evening every person in attendance who departed the central Downtown LA warehouse (entry through the back alley, of course) was left wishing Kool-Aid would have a Birthday party more than once a year… socks knocked off!
